MEET THE SIGN LADY

Welcome! Thank you for being here!

A little about me.....

After being laid off from my corporate healthcare job in Boston during COVID, I came to Nantucket, planning to stay just for the summer as I usually did. I was hoping to enjoy the island then head back in the fall and start the dreaded job hunt. But Nantucket had other plans.

That summer while on island, I unexpectedly welcomed Wrenley—a Bernese Mountain Dog—into my life. With so much uncertainty in the world and my life she was the perfect best friend to navigate with. After an unforgettable season on the island, and with no work to go home to, I decided that if I could find a job I truly loved, I would take a chance and stay in Nantucket.

After several disheartening job interviews, I was thrilled to discover an opportunity in the sign industry. With a background in art and photography, I quickly fell in love with blending creativity into my day to day. On top of that, I loved helping businesses here with signage and learning so much about the people in the small community I lived in. For the first time, it felt like I could see the impact of my work in real time, something I was not used to in the corporate world.

During this time, I also truly experienced the infamous Nantucket magic, as adopting my Bernese Mountain Dog, Wrenley, lead me to my now boyfriend Hunter who happen to have her sister Nala from the same liter during the summer of COVID.

With more roots on the island, it finally felt like I was ready for more. Having gained valuable experience and now having more support and stability from Hunter, I felt ready to take a chance and create something for myself, so The Sign Lady was born.

The Sign Lady combines my passion for art, my entrepreneurial spirit, and my love for this incredible community that turned a summer plan into a six-year journey. I’m proud to be a woman-run business—supported by my two four-legged “quality control managers” and my boyfriend, Hunter—and I look forward to creating something special for you. Thank you for supporting local and being part of the story.
